Abstract
The historical evolution of law and justice in Mount Lebanon resembles the emergence of this unique country. Several ethnic, confessional, but also geopolitical data are at the origin of the progress of this right towards its modernity today. Thus, the spiritual leaders of the different Christian communities applied Roman-Christian law of Byzantium at the time of the principality. Later, Prince Chehab II ordered the application of Islamic law. It is only with the Moutaçarifiah that Lebanon is going to enter into the modernity of civil law of European inspiration.
